Canterbury Christmas Light Switch On, 14th November 2025

The city will be illuminated with six miles of lights and visitors are encouraged to explore the different themed locations to enjoy the festive atmosphere. 

The Christmas light switch-on in Canterbury will take place on Friday, 14 November 2025 at 6pm, signalling the start of the festive season across the city. This year, the event will feature multiple switch-on moments at various locations, bringing a widespread festive atmosphere to Canterbury.

Date: Friday, November 14, 2025
Time: The lights switch on at 6:00 PM, with the full event running from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Entertainment: Due to ongoing construction, the traditional parade is canceled this year, but there will be Christmas stages with unique entertainment spread across the city.

Logistics: To help with crowd management, the city center pedestrian zone will be closed from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM, and free Park and Ride will be available from 2:00 PM.

In place of the traditional parade, a range of entertainment and activities will be provided throughout the evening to engage visitors and residents alike. The festivities promise to create a vibrant and joyful atmosphere, offering something for all ages as the city embraces the Christmas spirit.
